A Little Lady

I ran errands today and stopped at the grocery store before I came home. Ran in to my mother,we chatted for a couple minutes and said see you tomorrow. I was walking through the store and kept running in to this cute little elderly lady. Every time we met she would smile at me and act like she wanted to say something. She was slow on her feet but as I said she was quite elderly. I told her to have a good day and she responded with the same thing and a smile. There were several people in line to be checked out and for some reason she ended up behind me which I still wonder about. I had all of my stuff up on the counter for the cashier and was just waiting on her. I turned around and the little lady looked worried and was looking in her cart. It finally dawned on me that she might like some help so I asked if she wanted me to assist her. You know how it is when the items are hard to reach in the front of the grocery cart. She looked at me so sweet and said " I am kinda short for these things" and they need to make grocery carts for shorter people. She was the nicest little lady and she thanked me and gave me the biggest smile you have ever seen. I thought about her all afternoon and wondered if she was hoping to be in line behind me in case she needed some help. It is the small things like this that can make a persons day and the smallest request from someone who could use a little help. I hope I see her again and can help her. Who knows. One day I may need help from a stranger and they will be kind also. As Ellen D. says "be kind to one another". I so agree...

Morning Vicki, love the post, how sweet.....Wish more people helped out other people out of kindness, seems the world is lacking in that department......Blessings Francine.

It made me have chills reading this. Reminded me of Hebrews, where it says when we entertain strangers we are entertaining Angels unaware.
